Christmas Gift Ideas

Have you ever noticed that Monorail's logo is coloured in a Christmas colour-scape? Us either actually, it was pointed out by a customer the other day. You know we spend so much time finding incredible new music and selecting choice reissues to write about (and occasionally sell) but sometimes it's good to take a breather and buy for others. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, it's always good to give.

To help you feel generous to your fellow humans, we've compiled a list of limited Christmas-related items to imbue some festive cheer or to aid you in impressing a loved one with a "cool" Christmas present. Yes, it's our favourite time of year for sure. Chiefly because we have some time off..

MONORAIL HOLIDAY OPENING TIMES:
Christmas Eve: 11-6pm
Christmas Day: Closed
Boxing Day: Closed
New Year's Eve: 11 - 5pm
New Year's Day: Closed

So, onward.

For those of you who like Christmas but not neccessarily the unmitigated schmalz, Les Disques Crepuscule compiled a heavyweight compilation featuring many of our favourite artists in a relatively festive mood. Ghosts Of Christmas Past features exclusives from New Order, Aztec Camera, Gavin Bryars, Deux Filles, The Wake and many more. We have a limited amount of the one-off White Vinyl pressing while stocks last. It's also available on CD in an expanded edition.

Two of our all-time favourite artists also recorded Christmas-themed, whole albums. Ela Orleans you, for sure, are no stranger to now. The Polish-born Glasgow resident has a long history with Monorail and if anyone was going to create a revelatory, melancholy and ascendent Christmas album it would be her. Christmas Fell Away is a jaw-dropping trip into the black heart of Christmas which, despite it being inspired by Cormack McCarthy's The Road, still manages to be an uplifting, heart-rending exercise in atmospherics. Like angels weeping snow. Now we might have originally got Saint Etienne's Glimpse Of Stocking (now now) vinyl LPs last year, but Christmas never goes out of fashion right? We've rescued the last remaining copies of this for you. Consider it a slightly sweeter chaser to Ela's Christmas treat.

Maybe even sweeter, and a former Album Of The Month artist, Girl Ray revealed one last surprise in the shape of an old fashioned Christmas 7". (I Wish I Were Giving You A Gift) This Christmas sums up perfectly how many of us feel this time of year. But you can rectify this, of course, by buying someone you love or even just like a lot a copy of Girl Ray's new 7" single. If you wanted to be really sweet to said person, why don't you pick up this limited tote bag by The Pastels? Printed on 100% Earth Positive cotton and featuring a new design by Alison and Katrina Mitchell, we have a limited amount of stock in from the band. Hey you could even use it as a stocking as well as stocking filler.

There are more new releases still trickling in, so you won't have heard the last from us this year. In the meantime, below are the recommended last shipping dates for Christmas:
