Moritz Von Oswald Trio

Sounding Lines

Honest Jons

Released: 8th June 2015

A welcome return to a Monorail favourite. The Moritz Von Oswald Trio expands on "Sounding Lines" to take on none other than afro-funk drummer extraordinaire Tony Allen, who is on fine form here.
Von Oswald's signature deep dub dynamics are still at the forefront, with some sonically pleasing bass roaming freely in oodles of space. The marriage of acoustic instruments (namely Allen's percussion) and the electronic treatment is done exceedingly well, bringing to our minds the likes of To Rococo Rot and Pole but on tracks towards the end of the LP like (Spectre) we're treated to a glorious re-imagining of the spaciest of Miles Davis-esque jams with added electronic weirdness.
