Shimmering, beautiful, Fawns Of Love's hook up with Robin Guthrie (yes, of Cocteau Twins) has resulted in a shoegaze-tinged heart-melter that drifts through thickets of glinting melancholy, under waterfalls of cascading guitar. Someday is blurry, the vocals searching from behind a gauze of reverb and echo. Reminds us a little of the sadder Slowdive numbers or even the early 2010s, haclyon days of Sleep Over and the hypnagogic explosion.

The Bakersfield, CA duo flip the script on the B-side with a more synth pop sound, like prime Depeche Mode on Italians Do Better. If anything, Never Sing For Joy really explodes the melodrama into a wide-screen, cinematic, neon-scorched panorama.
