Sleaford ModsExtreme Eating
Divide And Exit
Released: 30th October 2020
|LP||£17.99||Out of Stock|
Divide & Exit was the exact point when Sleaford Mods stepped into whatever we're calling "the mainstream" these days: the Mods are in the unique position of originating in the noise underground of northern Britain but also capturing something tangibly relatable to the wider public. Call it what you will, a ferocity born of failure and working class marginalisation or something even more fundemental; the frustration of not being in control, but the Mods have all the above in spades. James Williamson's lyrics are not unlike those of John Cooper Clarke; it's gritty, every-day poetry shot through with on-point witticisms and acerbic social comment. Already, Divide & Exit reads like a greatest hits collection: Tweet Tweet Tweet, Keep Out Of It, Tiswas... these are already anthems that tug at the public consciousness.
