A Strange Dream
Released: 6th November 2020
|Marble Smoke Vinyl||£16.99||Out of Stock|
Limited Edition Marble Smoke Colour Vinyl.
Produced by David Kilgour, a credit note that sets you up for the big swoon awaiting you on this dream of an LP by LA's Smokescreens, The Clean might be an easy touchstone to throw about, sure. There's also oodles of Go Betweens and every indie pop classic you can name, though there's a particularly warm, fuzzy atmosphere on A Strange Dream that reeks of summer, the deepest depth of summer, the promise of possiblity, throwing your heart into the air and not caring. It's so sun-tinged that they can sing "These are the streets of despair" and you imagine yourself cruising around the hills (That's Beverley Hill darling, not Maryhill) in a convertible with your best buds. Sadly, we're stuck here with good ol' Maryhill in November but we still have the new Smokescreens album to blast on the cans, with their harmonies powered by pure Vitmanin D. Of course, there's still little dashes of sadness and a cover of The Scrotum Poles' Pick The Cats Eyes Out (HELLO DUNDEE!). Lovely.
