Vinyl pressing. Legendary Polish group Ksiezyc were re-discovered by a new audience in 2015 when London-based label Penultimate Press reissued their incredible eponymous LP. A lush mixture of eastern-european folk song, avant garde texture and a beautiful use of acoustic instrumentation, it was one of our reissues of the year. With more expanded forms, Rabbit Eclipse is the group's new album on the same label and presents a rich and subtle environment of beguiling narratives hanging in suspended tension. This opens up an entire new phase in the cycle of the band where an enchanting discrete musical continuum of rich and subtle sound excursions are enveloped in a mysterious melancholia.
The group's sound is really without parallel. Angelic vocals dancing with wheezing organs, multi-timbral drones, a use of the unexpected but overall an exceedingly beautiful rendering of an otherworldly folk music that is both rootless and universal.
Rabbit Eclipse is another exemplary presentation from one of Poland’s most idiosyncratic and respected outfits.
