Bernthøler are like a cool glass of water on a warm summer's day, so good. This compilation which takes its name from their most iconic song, My Suitor, brings together some of the most essential parts of their catalogue.
For sure one of the most intriguing Belgian bands from the early 80’s, after a first single (Japanese Garden) the band released My Suitor in 1983 followed by an extended 12 inch version arranged by Wim Mertens. The song was championed by John Peel at BBC Radio 1 and became a cult hit in Europe, and especially in Japan. Fronted by the charismatic Drita Kotaji, and with a sound somewhere between Young Marble Giants and Antena, Bernthøler have always been super intriguing and frustratingly obscure.
My Suitor partly addresses that, compiling some of their best tracks from official releases and a selection of demos for the first time on vinyl including the never before released Heartbeat. Timeless.
