Les Milous

Annie Hall / Shampoo Nightclubbing

Happiest Place

Released: 15th January 2021

What is happening on the cold streets of Sweden's urban areas? It's remarkable that geographical spots seem to collect their weirdos and outsiders at one time and throw up a scene to live for. Or maybe we're projecting a little. Either way, we love it. Les Milous share a label with pop sensations Typical Girls and feature JH of Mama Sonic but with this group we're talking wiry, nervy pop smash with a little shot of garage sewn into the stitching.

There's a spartan production that recalls everything from 60s Garage to the rougher side of Postcard records, specially with that adorable keyboard 2-note melody but also a kind of very early Jacno dryness that reminds us of, shoot, Devo, The Stinky Toys, what is going on here? When we first heard Annie Hall, the A-Side we had to play it several times in a row just to make sure we had heard write. It's really that simple, that catchy and just weird enough to demand repeat play. 2 minutes and WE. ARE. DONE. Back to the start. On the flip, there's an instrumental in the classic mode, like surfing in Sweden with a pulsing drum machine it could be some New Wave time-warp hack. A weird, wired, wonderful little 7" that is gonna be gone by the time you finish reading this.
