Incredible second long player from Cairo-based Islam Chipsy + Eek.
On this, Islam Chipsy + Eek's first studio album proper, the keyboard player references North African folk music while slamming hard with an invigorating, powerful modern production that moves every fibre in your body. Beginning with an ambient piece that unfurls with synthesized flutes and synth pads, Chipsy and his drummers - the onomatopoeically named Eek - soon launch into choubi drenched slammer that draws as much on modern dance music production - big, bottom-heavy kick drums - that compliment the virtuoso drumming. Chipsy's keyboard technique is never complicated or messy, often using a base drone which he improvises over the top of, the resultant melodic storm is perpetually moving, swirling, ever changing and incessant.
Kahraman nails the trio's synergy, a thumping, polyrhythmic non-stop party that bridges two soundworlds with aplomb.
