Disco Dub Band

For The Love Of Money

Mr Bongo

Released: 9th February 2018

A wayward proto-house wonder-oddity from 1976, For The Love Of Money is simultaneously really hard to place in the genre spectrum, but also redolent of so much that came after. A thumping disco beat deadened by some beautiful 70s compressed drum production, a coked-up guitar lick slashing at the sides and a gorgeous, floating synth that jumps in and out, Disco Dub Band could be anything from Can to Arthur Russell via any number of impossibly funky disco music of the late 70s. Delay-guitars strafe across each other to create a paranoid but enjoyable incessant groove. Our only complaint is that it doesn't go on forever.
